Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Assess proposed solution
   • Rank solution options on business value, and advantages and disadvantages of alternatives
   • Generate and consider solution options and additional capabilities
2. Allocate requirements
   • Allocate requirements to solution components to maximise business value
   • Facilitate allocation of requirements to a specific project release, phase or iteration
3. Assess organisational readiness
   • Conduct cultural assessment
   • Conduct operational or technical assessment
   • Perform stakeholder impact analysis
4. Define transition requirements
   • Evaluate old system actual data and metadata
   • Develop options for managing ongoing work during transition to the new solution
   • Participate in organisational change management recommendations or processes as required
5. Validate solution
   • Investigate defective solution outputs
   • Assess defects and issues
6. Evaluate solution performance
   • Realise value delivered by the solution
   • Validate solution metrics
   • Decide solution replacement or elimination

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

categorise benefits and disadvantages of various solution options

assess cultural impact of different solutions

compare transition requirements between solutions

analyse output variances between solutions

remove inappropriate solutions from list

recommend remaining solutions in priority order

validate solutions

confirm solution metrics and evaluate the solution.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

describe the impact of the business environment with regard to proposed information and communications technology (ICT) solutions

describe and implement techniques for assessing options and validating solutions
